Here's a little house plant round-up for you! House plants don't only revitalise the interior of your home and look easy on the eye, they provide an abundance of health benefits too! Benefits include removing toxins from the air that are caused by chemicals from products within the home (paints, varnishes and inks) which can cause headaches, irritations and respiratory problems. They can also benefit your psychological well-being by alleviating depression, and some plants, such as
Aloe Vera, have healing properties.
Best places to pick up these lovely house plants are from your local gardening store, or from a DIY/Home shop such as
Homebase,
B&Q or
Ikea (or even better, a whole plant or cutting from a fellow green-fingered friend). These selection of plants are generally easy to look after as they either need little watering or climate control, just make sure you do a little bit of research to understand your plants to keep them happy and turgid!
Decorate your room with house plants in a variety of places, for example your windowsills are perfect for plants that require an abundance of sunlight. They can also be placed on side tables, desks, planted in unusual pots or creatively hung from the ceiling... style at your pleasure!
I currently have a Money Plant (bottom left plant on the above image) which was a cutting from my Mum's plant. She even gave me an unusual and kitsch pot to plant it in. I look forward to showing you! I hope you have fun decorating your rooms with wonderful plants and enjoy their great benefits.
